A San Lorenzonian intermediate student brought more than just a fortune and a rewarding experience in an international competition but also great pride for her country. Vrielle Dominique Fortuno, a grade 4 student and a daughter of an alumnus, Jason Mark Fortuno, joined the Youth Performing Arts Championship (YPAC) 2024 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last December 21, 2024, as one of the performers representing the Philippines in the Vocal Competition. It was her first time joining the competition yet she was able to achieve a Silver Award with her amazing rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”.
The YPAC is a large-scale international arts competition supervised by the Association of Arts and Culture of Malaysia, participated by over a hundred performers from various Asia-Pacific countries who competed in different categories under dance, musical instrument, and vocals which started from December 18 until December 23, 2024 at the Panggung Bandaraya DBKL (City Theatre) Malaysia. Vrielle studied voice lessons at the ACTS Manila, a faith-based performing arts school and professional dance company supported by an affiliate ballet school system, for less than year. Her talent and skills honed for months of training already brought recognition for the country, her school, and her very supportive parents. She just might make a fortune as a professional singer in the future!
