Curricular Program

San Lorenzo School aims to develop the total well being of a globally-competitive child that is geared toward academic and moral excellence, building a strong foundation of values and knowledge from the formative years in the nursery level onto the teenage years in the secondary level, covering three preparatory years and ten years of basic education.

PRE-ELEMENTARY LEVEL

Nursery – This caters to children from 3½ to 4 years old. In this introductory level, scholastic activities that promote social adjustment toward social development is the main thrust. The approach is Montessori in nature, based from the philosophy of Maria Montessori, the proponent of Montessori Education.

Junior Casa – This level has a concentration of 4 to 5½ year old children. At this stage, emphasis is toward “growing and developing” rather than in “knowing”. The children are guided to develop themselves through movement, particularly in self-care and care of the environment through Practical Life Activities. The child’s intelligence is developed through the use of Sensorial materials that introduce the child to Language, Mathematics, Cultural Arts, and Computer Education through edutainment. The activities provided in a prepared environment enable each child to teach himself and thereby construct himself.

Kindergarten – This level, which corresponds to the ‘Preparatory Level’ in other schools, has a concentration of 5½ to 6½ year old. This stage is characterized primarily by the sensitive periods of reading, writing, and other direct learning of skills. The children are directly prepared to read, write, and count through subjects in Language, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography, Music and Arts, and Computer Education.

GRADE SCHOOL / ELEMENTARY LEVEL

Primary (Grade 1  to Grade 3) – The Primary Level gives emphasis on mastery of the four learning areas with the help of Computer Education. The children are taught to acquire skills and knowledge in English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science Technology and Health, History / Geography / Civics and Culture, Music, Arts & Physical Education, as well as Good Moral and Right Conduct (GMRC).

Intermediate (Grade 4 to Grade 6) – At this level, children are taught to acquire higher skills and knowledge in English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science and Health, History / Geography / Civics, and Good Moral and Right Conduct (GMRC). Knowledge and skills are also imparted in Home Economics and Livelihood Education, Computer Education, Music, Arts, and Physical Education. All subjects are allotted specific number of hours as prescribed by the Department of Education, handled by teachers especially trained for each subject area.

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL – SCIENCE CURRICULUM

In order to ensure quality education in the Secondary Level, San Lorenzo School follows the Desired Learning Competencies for the different subject areas such as English, Filipino, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Technology and Livelihood Education, Information Technology, Music Arts Physical Education and Health, and Values Education.

This level aims to discover and enhance the different aptitudes and interests of the student to hone his talent and equip him with competitive skills and information to better direct him at the end of the 4-year education towards any of the four Senior High School tracks: Academic, Arts & Design, Sports, and Technical-Vocational.

Junior High School students are provided with advanced Science, English, & Mathematics electives with additional units as prescribed by the Department of Education for Science Curriculum, with exposure to experiential activities in information technology that strengthens their competence that are advantageous for the Senior High School Academic Track.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL

Senior High School graduatesThe Senior High School is the final stage of the secondary level composed of 2 years of preparation that further equips, enhances, and empowers a globally competitive student who will earn a diploma for promotion to tertiary or higher education courses and professional development.

ACADEMIC TRACK (Grade 11 to Grade 12) – It is a 2 year preparatory course consisting of core, applied, & specialized subjects for the following strands that directs the student toward the related course indicated below:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) – Environmental Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacology, Radiologic Technology, Information Technology, Programming, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, & related courses.
  • HUMSS (Humanities & Social Studies) – Education, Arts & Literature, Psychology, Mass Communication, Anthropology, Social Work, International Studies, Journalism, Political Science, Law, & related courses
  • ABM (Accountancy, Business, & Management) – Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel Restaurant & Institutional Management, Tourism, Human Resource Management, Real Estate, & related courses.
  • GAS (General Academic Subjects) – unspecified courses that enable the student to qualify for admission to tertiary education.
