It has just gotten better for the Primary Department of San Lorenzo School this year after Sophia Ysabelle Ortega and her coach, Mrs. Ma. Theresa Galang, received the Gold Award, for an adorable and impressive performance in the inter-school online Storytelling Contest organized and hosted by the H&D Highlights Library Philippines on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Highlights Library, one of the global products of Highlights for Children, founded in 1946 by couple Dr. Garry Cleveland and Caroline Clark Myers, helps plant the seed in children for a lifelong love of reading. It offers a wide array of books accessible from their digital platform that promotes reading and comprehension, monitors reading progress, and measures reading comprehension through quizzes that makes reading fun, challenging, and exciting.

The Storytelling competition it organized for partner schools encourages students to love reading and build their confidence through a competitive event that improves language and communication skills, strengthens imagination and creativity, and imparts moral values from the story. The contestants submitted their unedited video recorded performance which were evaluated on Voice Quality, Pronunciation, Creativity in Acting, Pacing, Costume and Props, and Technicality.
