The Girl Scouts of San Lorenzo School under has finally produced another Chief Girl Scout after a long drought due to the effects of the global pandemic. On October 19, 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines awarded the highly esteemed Chief Girl Scouts Medal to over a hundred awardees nationwide including our Senior Girl Scout, Miel Gabriel Lacdan, for successfully completing the Chief Girl Scout medal scheme where the beneficiary of her project included a fruitful collaboration with the missionary work of the Religious Franciscan Sisters of St. Anthony.
The Chief Girl Scouts Medal Scheme designed in 1975 by the GSP Program Division is built on the concept of the holistic development of the girl which composes the Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Social and Emotional development. The main emphasis of this incentive is on the girl’s leadership, perseverance, and her sense of responsibility toward herself and her community. A CGSM aspirant is judged according to her individual ability and leadership capabilities.
The GSCM Scheme is open to all Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts who:
- are registered with the GSP for the current year;
- have had at least three years of Girl Scouting experience as a Star/Junior/Senior;
- must have earned at least two badges in each of the 8-Point Challenge in the Senior level before she starts on the Scheme;
- must have participated in:
– a 3-day troop camp; and
– district camp/Council Camp/Regional/National Camp. - are endorsed by their troop leaders and parents;
- are determined to take up the challenge of extending service with the help of the community people to improve themselves and transform the community into a conducive place to live in.
Due to the restrictions brought by the COVID pandemic which began in 2020, full participation in scouting activities resumed beginning school year 2022-2023.
